When Is the Best Time to Book Senior Pictures in Colorado Springs?

I recommend booking your senior photography session in January or February of your junior year. This gives you plenty of time to reserve your preferred date, choose locations, plan outfits, and make sure your portraits are completed well before senior year gets busy.

Why Take Senior Pictures During the Summer Before Senior Year?

For many Colorado Springs high school seniors, summer is an ideal time for senior photography. Your schedule is usually more flexible before school, sports, activities, and other senior-year commitments begin. Colorado’s beautiful summer weather also gives us countless opportunities for outdoor portraits in locations such as Garden of the Gods, North Cheyenne Cañon, Ute Valley Park, and other favorite Colorado Springs photography locations.

Taking your senior pictures during the summer also means you won’t have to worry about fitting your session around your senior-year schedule or rushing to meet a yearbook deadline. Instead, you can relax, enjoy the experience, and take the time to create a variety of portraits that truly reflect your personality and style.

What If You Prefer Fall, Winter, or Spring?

I encourage you to choose the season that your senior loves most. Every season offers a different look and feel.

Summer offers warm weather, beautiful greenery, and long evenings.

Fall is one of my favorite times for senior photography in Colorado Springs because of the beautiful autumn colors and cooler temperatures.

Winter can create a completely different look, especially when we have snow in the Colorado Springs area.

Spring offers fresh greenery, blossoms, and a lighter, more colorful feel.

The best season is ultimately the one that fits your senior’s personality and the style of portraits they envision.

What About Senior Yearbook Photos?

If you plan to use your senior portraits in your high school yearbook, be sure to check with your school for its specific submission requirements and deadline. Most Colorado Springs-area schools require senior portraits to be submitted in October. However, some are in September, November or even January.

Don’t wait until the last minute. Booking your session early gives us plenty of time to photograph your senior, select your favorite images, complete any necessary retouching, and make sure everything is ready before the yearbook deadline.

When Should You Contact a High School Senior Photographer?

My recommendation is simple: start planning in January or February of your junior year and aim to photograph your senior portraits during the summer before senior year whenever possible.

The earlier you book, the more options you’ll have for your preferred date, time, locations, and overall senior photography experience.

And most importantly, you’ll be able to enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime milestone without feeling rushed.

How  Much Does Senior Portraits Cost?

The Black Forest Photography Senior Experience is designed to be more than just a photo session. It is a personalized experience from the initial planning consultation through the final selection of your senior portraits.

There are two parts to the Senior Experience:

The Senior Session Fee | $150

Your session fee is due when you book your session and reserves your date on my calendar.

The session fee does not include prints, artwork, products, or digital files.

Print & Portrait Collections | Beginning at $675

After your session, we’ll meet in person to view and choose your favorite senior portraits. Print and portrait collections begin at $675 and are designed to give you beautiful, professionally finished photographs and artwork to enjoy for years to come.

Because every senior is different, we’ll work together to choose the collection and products that best fit your needs and how you want to enjoy your senior portraits.

Your senior year only happens once. Your photographs should be just as unique as you are.

Who Submits My Yearbook Photo?

For most schools I do! Each school has a different deadline and different systems of submission and I have worked with most of the local schools for over 25 years. I know their specifications and this takes one thing off your plate.

Senior Portraits In Colorado Springs

I am a parent of teenagers. I know that some of our  young people struggle with mental illness and families struggle to help them. In my personal effort to help those families I will be giving a donation to the S.T.A.Y Foundation for every high school senior package purchased. You may check them out at: https://stay.charity

My hope is to help local families and be part of the wave of change.
